Senior Room School Tour

On Thursday June 1st, 4th,5th and 6th classes went to Galway on their school tour. First they enjoyed a guided tour of Galway aquarium with their wonderful guide Alannagh and they even got to feed some of the fish !

After that they tested their sports skills in Pure Skill. Baseball, rugby, golf, Gaelic, basketball, soccer – you name it they tried it !!

And to round off the day they headed to the Headford Road Shopping centre for some food and shopping! Everyone was excellently behaved and were complimented by all the different staff they met on the day. Well done everyone you did the school proud as always

Music Generation Mayo Concert

After months of ukulele lessons with Music Generation Mayo tutor Kief, the children from 4th,5th and 6th classes took to the stage in the Royal Theatre Castlebar to perform as part of the Young musicians of Mayo end of year concert. They gave a fantastic performance of old and new hits such as Oasis’ ‘Wonderwall’ and ‘Green,Green Grass’ by George Ezra! Well done to all the children and thanks to Kief and Music Generation Mayo for this wonderful opportunity

FAI Primary Schools 5’s

We are so proud of our girls soccer team who competed in the Mayo finals of the FAI Primary Schools 5’s in Milebush today.

The girls put in excellent performances to come away with 1 win, 2 draws and 1 defeat to the eventual winners Belcarra NS. Behaviour by players and supporters both and on off the pitch was exemplary. Thanks girls for a great day out !

Our Famine Projects

Over the last number of weeks the children in 4th,5th and 6th classes have been learning about period in Irish History known as The Great Famine. This week they brought in their completed Famine Projects. We are so proud of all the hard work that went into these famine cottages and coffin ships. Well done everyone

Tayto Park

The children from 4th, 5th and 6th Class went to Tayto Park in Meath on Friday the 17th of June. It was a very memorable day and the children had a brilliant time.

We visited the zoo where we saw a variety of animals from Khan the Amur Tiger to very cute Meerkats (some children wanted to bring them home). The children and teachers were very brave to take to the skies on the many many adventure seeking rides Tayto Park has to offer… from the Rotator to the one and only Cú Chulainn (very very scary ).

The children were absolutely amazing and loved every minute of the day (well maybe except the 60 seconds on Cú Chulainn ).

Exploring The Galapagos Islands

The Senior Room have been exploring the Galapagos Islands. From Marine & Land Iguanas to active volcanos. The children completed fantastic research projects on the history, geography and science of the islands.

The children used their creativity and imagination to make these fantastic Marine/Land Iguana, pink Iguana & Lava Lizard eyes . They used polymer clay in a variety of colours and baked them in the oven to harden them.
