So impressed by all the work 1st and 2nd class put into their projects on New Zealand from home. Don’t they look amazing !!

Well done to all the children who put so much effort into their Koru Artwork this week. To the people of New Zealand the Koru plant represents new life and new beginnings. Koru spirals are often seen in the sculptures, paintings, carvings and tattoos of the Māori people.

After learning about the life of the famous artist Vincent Van Gogh the children created some wonderful 'Sunflowers' of their own !
Well done everyone.  I think they look just as good as Vincent's !!

Can you spot what people used to make their names in 3-D for our STEM challenge ?

Love is in the air in the Middle Room ! Happy Valentines Day to all x

Happy Chinese New Year from the Middle Room !

The middle classes had great fun working together on their new word games ‘Word Bandit’ and ‘Chain letters’. We have also been exercising our brains each day to find words in our Countdown challenge !

Some of our fantastic New Year's art work !

We loved drawing and decorating our funky Christmas reindeer !!

After listening to Roald Dahl’s classic novel ‘Matilda’ as our read aloud all term, the middle room were treated to a ‘movie day ‘ complete with popcorn !

We have been working on using speech marks correctly in our narrative writing. We had great fun making up what these animals might be saying !!

Hallowe'en in the Middle Room !

To celebrate Space Week the middle classes had great fun exploring how shadows were made. When the sun came out we raced to our partners and traced around their shadows before the clouds came back and blocked out to the light !!

We also acted out the poem ‘Planet Roll Call’ and created some chalk drawings of the planets. Here is our display !

1st, 2nd and 3rd classes enjoyed a trip in the September sunshine to Ballinrobe Library. The library was opened in 1996 but before that the building was St. Mary’s church. We examined lots of evidence from the past such as its stained glass windows, tombstones, the bell tower and gallery.

After that we walked down to the Bowers to have our lunch. Finally we looked at the proposed plans for the new running track in the Green. Everyone had a lovely afternoon !

After our trip to the Library we designed and created our own Stained Glass Windows using coloured tissue paper!

For our first art lesson back to school the children in 1st,2nd & 3rd class explored Gustav Klimt’s famous painting ‘The Tree of Life ’.  They then traced their own trees before sponge painting the background using lots of bright colours. Don’t they look great !
