The middle room have been learning all about New Zealand and the customs and traditions of their native people, The Maori .
The children took their inspiration for this artwork from Raewyn Harris, a New Zealand artist who uses the Koru plant in many of her paintings . The Koru plant is a symbol of new life , strength and peace for the Maori people.

On Thursday 2nd of March 2nd, 3rd & 4th classes went on a very enjoyable trip to Ballinrobe library. We met with local historian Averil Staunton, who guided us through the history of the building from it's original function as a church of Ireland church in the 1700's to its present function, serving the locality as a library. The children were fascinated with all of Averil's facts and stories and we are extremely grateful to her for taking the time to speak so informatively and patiently to the children . Thanks also to librarian Mary Farragher for allowing us to visit on a busy World Book Day !
As part of our activities to celebrate World Book Day, children from the junior room enjoyed listening to lots of stories read by children from 2nd-
